Great win against a strong St George side to start the new year. Ryan ‘Bradman’ Hadley with the half decent average of 115 this season was the man to support Farrell and the Tahs crossed the line seven down in the 30th over. After losing Joel Davies, Isaiah Vumbaca played a small impressive cameo however his loss of wicket alongside Webber meant the Tahs needed some stability. Losing a few wickets early Farrell looked to steady the ship alongside Davies. His spell was greatly supported by Seward, Herdie and Joel Davies who all bowled well on the tricky wicket keeping the dragons to 100 flat.īryant and herd opened the batting.

Jake Carden did what ping does best bowling 10 straight on an excellent length taking two piles and going for less than 2 an over. Westy took the first by LBW followed by maybe the greatest live catch we have seen at backward point in his classic fashion by Elliot herd. West and Hadley opened up bowling beautiful lengths on the tough wicket. But for now, let’s celebrate a great round that saw us elevated to 4th in the Club Championships.įirst grade rocked up to a picturesque Hurstville oval with a few changes due to Covid.Ĭaptain Ryan Farrell won the toss on a soft feeling wicket and looked to take some early poles choosing to bowl first. With COVID cases set to rise in the coming weeks, who knows what next round will bring.

A first Grade win that was hard work, a second Grade win that was easy work, and a 4th Grade win that was cut from the teeth of a young 5th Grade bowling attack With all the disruptions, we did amazingly well against St George. It was a first for our club, and the first time more than 1 female player has played the same Premier Cricket game. Secondly, we had 3 female players in Saskia Horley, Mikaela Turik and Shivani Mehta make their Men’s Premier Cricket debut’s. While we can’t comment on other clubs, we were greatly impacted with 9 players across first and second grade unavailable just from COVID, and 20 across the 5 grades. COVID has gone through Sydney like a hot knife through butter, with cases going through the roof and every second person seemingly down with the flu like symptoms.

The first Round for the Men back from the Christmas break (Women have their first Round next week) produced a couple of historic moments in the history of Grade Cricket.įirstly, it was undoubtedly the round where the most amount of players were unavailable.
